Nestled in this week’s basket –
Beets – don’t forget to enjoy the greens! Radishes – French Breakfast (red & white) or Easter Eggs (pink & purple) Arugula Spinach – Bloomsdale Long Standing – a beautiful and yummy variety Rainbow Chard Lettuce Mix – This late seeded row was grown with love to mainly be harvested for the 200+ folks attending my sister’s wedding. I was very generous on the planting as 200 mouths is an intimidating number, but it looks like I could feed 500+. Hopefully this will hold and we’ll be able to enjoy it for a few more weeks. Baby Salad Turnips – Hakuri – Cut up into wedges and sprinkle a little salt, these are devoured in seconds! Napa Cabbage – This is the third year I’ve tried to grow Napa Cabbage, my favorite type of cabbage, and the only year that it has been successful! Usually these tender chinese varieties just bolt, as they’re quite heat sensative. ENJOY!
Week #3 and everyone already has their baskets. Thank you Friday folks for being flexible and picking up Thursday. It’s been quite the week. Some beautiful harvests and a wedding to look forward to. I’m proud to say that my sister; who I though would be living in New York working on the 50 something floor of a high rise, using all her savvy business and marketing skills and living a city live, is actually marring a farmer and living close to home where we get to see each other often! She’s using her bright mind and amazing attention to detail as the marketing director of a boutique olive oil company, Sutter Buttes Olive Oil .

Beet Salad – I would have this on a bed of lettuce and arugula greens
Spanakopita – Use a green blend of spinach, chard and beet greens!
